Installation

Install Clink once to get the command-line client and the MCP server. You can check the installation before connecting an agent.

Install with uv

With uv installed, run the following command. It installs the published Python package into an isolated environment.

Terminal
uv tool install clink-cli

If your shell cannot find the new commands, follow uv’s printed PATH instructions and start a new shell. If you installed the original v0.2.0 GitHub wheel with uv, remove its old distribution first with uv tool uninstall clink-mcp-server.

Verify the installation

Terminal
clink --help
clink generation-capabilities --json

The second command reports supported generation schemas and agent families. It reads local capability information without calling a model. The Claude Code quick start verifies the separate MCP entry point.

Compatibility

  • Python 3.10 or newer. The project tests against Python 3.12.
  • Process supervision targets POSIX systems. Recorded native admissions cover exact macOS arm64 executables and launch recipes.
  • Sign in through the chosen native CLI before a model call. Native Windows delegation is unavailable.

For a wheel or source installation, follow the upstream installation guide.
